Supreme understanding

By Mory Keita

The horizon appears far above my head,
The sun gleams without end behind cloudy curtains,
Like some eternal flame blown by an eternal being.

Beyond my sight lie comets, stars and distant galaxies.
Is it reasonable if one seek things beyond one’s  comprehension?
If one was to ponder upon the unknown, the unseen?
If one was to say, all things can be seen through the mind?

I have seen a ladder spreading from continent to continent,
I have seen all there is to be seen on earth, and I wasn’t amazed.

Should I build a ladder spreading from earth to heaven?
Should I climb it to see the farthest corners of the universe?
Is it possible to understand the universe, to spread it across a table?
Perhaps, there is no such things as supreme understand; not in this world.

you beautifully capture this moment of standing in awe before something bigger and beyond our understanding and asking some of the questions that go with it

We know so little, and are so small in this vast, vast universe. A sobering, poignant and beautiful poem, Mory, one that truly captures the wonder of creation and the nature of humanity..."Like some eternal flame blown by an eternal being" - that was my favourite line.

There is no limits to what one's mind can dream of. The mind is a marvelous thing, and it can stretch in all directions if we dare.

I painted a ladder to the stars for my grandchildren, LOL. I do agree though, looking up at the planets and stars at night gives me the chills, and my big question... where does the universe end? I can so relate to this poem!

An excellent piece of writing, Mory.

There are many questions we will no doubt never know the answers to, but that shouldn't stop us asking them all the same.

An inquiring mind is an open mind.

You need to build and bridge as many ladders as you need. Some questions require faith for the answers.

Like this piece! For a whole day I wanted to be an astronaut just to see the universe beyond. Then I remembered that I'd much rather just write about it! As humans we often strive to touch the untouchable, to reach the unreachable, just to see what the view is like! I bet if we ever actually started using more then 10% of our brain, we'd wish for ingnorance again.
