Dear friends and readers,
I am currently working on my first novel. I have been trying to continue writing but I am having trouble keeping up with the plot due confusions. The problem is that i cannot decide whether to write my novel in first or third person. I know that both POV have advantages and disadvantages. I personally feel that the first person conveys directly the message to the reader but for some reason i am unable to continue writing the novel in first person. Moreover, when I try to rewrite a chapter in third person, I feel like something vital in the story has been lost. Due to those complications, I am starting to think that I should abandon my current novel but I have come so far and I am certain that it will be a success if written correctly.
Is it better to write a romance novel in first or third person? Do you know some tips to help me in the novel writing process? By the way, I have written many short stories before but this is my first novel. If you are willing to read parts of my novel in progress and provide your feedback, please leave your email address in the comment box below or email me at morykeita94@gmail.com.
Best Regards,
Mory

I know what you must be going through...
I have faced similar problems but whatever(I won't call it a novel now) I am writing, is still in the initial stages...
I have read 3-4 romance novels..and I feel that writing in first person makes it better. Other people may have different perspective. I like it in first person.
Never stop. You may take a break but never think of quiting. All the best.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance... :)
Write in whichever format is comfortable to you Mory. Scribble, scribble away and your novel will find its own voice :)
One more thing, never give up! If it's not working for you just set it aside til it feels right.
May your New Year be filled with wonderful adventures :)
Mory, I am glad you are writing. Like you, I find writing in the first person makes it all feel more immediate. I also prefer READING in the first person, but that's just me. It totally depends on which voice feels "right" and "real" to you, when you are writing. Sounds like you prefer the first person.
Try hard to keep going and not give up. I have written a book that , whenever I try to edit it or rewrite it, I just get stalled and keep setting it aside. At this rate it will never get done. Let's both try to get these things going in 2011. I have found that, once we get in a roll, the writing then takes over and provides its own momentum. It is getting thru the first hurdles that is the most difficult.
Good luck in the new year. We Shall Overcome!:)
one page a day, after a year, you got 365 pages, a novel.
good luck..

I agree, write in what makes you feel comfortable, your writing flow easier. As for me, I write in 1st,2nd, and third when it comes to my short stories. Guess I'm trying to find my niche. dunno
